If you have tried to clean up your diet before and failed, it’s because you weren’t specific enough!
I see so many people go down this path- they decide they want to eat better, maybe choose a recipe or two, hit the grocery store and by day three they are back to pizza for dinner and feeling super guilty about it.
There is no shame there, my friend!
Here’s how you can prevent that next time: make a list of the foods that will make up 90% of your diet, and then plan ahead for when you’ll be having the indulgent 10%.
What foods make you feel best? Write them all down. Now find recipes that include those foods and do your meal prepping.
This simple process cuts down on temptation SO MUCH!
It makes a diet change really easy. Don’t leave it to chance or for you to make a healthy decision in t moment- that never works! This process does work.

Change can be scary, it can be hard.
Losing the weight or starting a new diet can feel like you are losing yourself and your identity.
And that is actually what is happening; you are getting rid of your old identity and building a new one!
You are brave for making a change, it is not easy!!
The faster you can believe in yourself to be that new person, the less painful that change will be.
Let’s get clear together on whom the new you is…..
What do you think and feel as a thinner, healthier you?
What tools do you need to become the new you?
Write all of that down and move forward from there and you will see how FAST and SIMPLE change is!

A client reached out to me the other day.
She said, “my family just does not support my new way of eating. Making this shift is so hard sometimes I don’t know why I am doing it.”
I told her the only support she really needs is her own!
The people in your life probably won't support you making a change at first.
They only know the old you, not the new you!
But you know the new you, you believe in that person and your ability to become that person... And that is what’s really important.
I asked her “what else can you feel in those moments when you see your family not support your new diet?"
How about pride in yourself for making the change that most will never dare to do?
What about self-love because you are doing something awesome for yourself?
What about gratitude for your family that loves you?
Those are all feelings to try on when you are feeling the challenge, when you are feeling down.
You can do this!
I am so proud of you for just getting started.
I...
STOP FOR A SECOND.
When was the last time you paused and took a look at how far you have come?
How much you have grown since last year, how much weight you have lost, how many dietary changes you've made, how much more mature you are than yesterday ().
This plate pictured here is the sign I made for the original Basically It Meals before it was Basically It Meals.
4 years ago, it was called "The $6 Lunch". I would bulk batch my own meal prep and then take it to work each week and sell it to my coworkers. I hung this plate up at my cubicle to let them know when I had a batch to sell.
That is how far I've come.....from $6 lunch offered to coworkers, to full time business owner, to online course purveyor, to producer and TV personality.
We are all capable of INCREDIBLE CHANGE but so often we are stuck in "I haven't done enough", "I am not enough", "I will never get there".
So, stop for just one second today and give yourself a pat on the back for all the BAD ASS work you have put in!
I am so...
In the last 3 months, I have:
I spoke with an awesome group of people in a weight loss program the other night.
These people are making HUGE dietary shifts.
Something most of us will talk about, dream about, but never quite stick to.
These people were truly inspiring.
They wanted to know how to make the transition easier, less painful.
They wanted to know how to stick with it for years to come.
I told them this kind of change takes some planning. When we leave decisions food decisions until we are hungry, our brain is not capable of making a conscious decision.
When we're hungry we switch to survival mode, and we will eat the most calorie dense thing we can get our hands on.
We have to make those decisions ahead of time. Make them when we are in a clear-headed place with our end result in mind.
When we can do that, success is inevitable.
And the best way to do that is by meal prepping.
Your week is planned ahead, all your food decisions are made, and that way when you are hungry and tired and you open that fridge...
Good things don’t come easy...
I was sweating my butt off at the gym today, kind of regretting being there, when this thought hit me.
If I want to feel the way I want to feel this summer, I’m probably going to have to go through it. Feel discomfort. Sweat. Skip dessert.
This goes for saving money, getting more free time each week, committing to meal prepping.
The work you put in upfront might not be easy.
You might even need to invest money upfront to get these things...
But if the result is worth it, then the “hard part” isn’t so bad.
I challenge you to do the hard thing today- invest in yourself, sweat, go through the pain.
It’s worth it on the other side.
Join the meal prep course and you will definitely give yourself the gift of time and money on the other side!
